I read my gf's notes app

My girlfriend left her phone unlocked next to me.

I wasn't looking for anything in particular.

But then I saw the Notes app was open.

There was a note titled **"Things I can't tell him."**

Naturally, I read it.

I expected to see something about cheating. Or doubts about our relationship.

Instead, it was a list of things she doesn't like about me.

My laugh when I'm nervous.

The way I chew.

The way I tell the same stories to different people.

The fact that sometimes she pretends to be asleep because she doesn't want to talk to me.

There were 23 items in total.

But the last one read:

**"I'm afraid that one day I'll leave him and realize that these were the very things I loved the most."**

I closed the app.

She still doesn't know I read it.

And now, every time I make her laugh, I wonder: which list did I just end up on?

Maybe it would have been better not to know?
